MR HINDMARSH.
Mr Hindm&rsh is a member of Parliament. He is also a member of the Wellington Harbour Board. To neither position oan he be said to' be an ornament. He opposed the Harbour Board being represented on the deputation to (Ministers concerning the W&inunapa railways, because, "all these people want to do is to boom the country for the purpose of getting employment, or selling land; or a thousand other things." Now, nobody w*ho is acquainted with Mr Hindmarsh would accuse him of being possessed of a natural vein of humour. , But if this remark concerning the selling of land and the getting; of employment is not {Jilbertian in its humour, then we mistake *tlho meaning of the term. The .settler* of the Wairarapa backlilooks, the local .bodies of the district, the Wellington merchants a<nd citizens are all out to sell land or get employment! Well, well! And this is the class of (humorist who ia entrusted with the foaming of the laws of the country I
