AN IMPORTANT DECISION.

ALLEGED BREACH OF AWARD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last* Night. Reserved judgment was delivered by Mr C. C. Kettle, S.M., to-day in the case in which the Inspector of Awards proceeded against Winstone and Co., for a breach of the drivers' awtard. The defendants had docked their carters' wages to the extent of 7s each for alleged "slowing down." The .magistrate held that the clause in the awaud providing for the docking of wages in the case of workers' default did not cover slowing down merely, but a complete absence from work. In any case, he held that the slowing down had not been proved, and gave judgment for the inspector, with a nominal penalty against the defendants of 10s in ireBpect of each of the five men docked.
