A WAIIfcAiRAP:A MAN. On Wednesday; afteirooon, Rr A. MoArthur (District Coroner) held an inquest concerning the death, ot George Flint, a teamster on Mr W. Barton's Pirinoa Station (Waiiarapa), who died whilst undergoing an operation at Nurse Lucas's private hospital on Monday last. _ In giving medical evidence, IK Ewart stated that deceased had consulted hi tiv last week about various* veins. He entered the private hospital on Saturday, with a view to being operated upon on Monday last. From the time that Dr Hogg began to administer an anaesthetic, the patient showed a tendency to straggle, the face became discoloured, and administered injections of strychnine and ether. The patient seemed to recover, and breathed normally occasionally for about teft minutes. After that, however, he failed to respond to treatment, and expired. Three years ago witness, attended the deceased at the same hospital for a period of three weeks for strained heart. Witness examined his heart three times last week, and found nothing wrong with it. "The cause of death was failure of the (heart's action, .brought about by struggling, while under an anaesthetic. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony.
