THE DEFENCE ACT.
QUESTION OF MILITARY CUSTODY-. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the House of' Representatives this afternoon, the Hon. James Allen, Minister of Defence, moved to set up a committee, with power to confer with a similar committee set up by the Legislative Council, to consider matters in connection with military custody and punishment as an alternative to service, the committee to consist of Messrs Bradney, Ooates, Harvey, Escortt, Isitt, Myers, Newman (Rangitikei), Statliam, Veitch. and the mover.* The motion was agreed to.
