One bearing a cross bade the Servian Colonel kisg the cross, as tihe fighting between brothers had ended. The Colonel complied, believing that an armistice had been concluded. Meanwhile the Bulgarians got five field batteries and two batteries of Howitzers—*one a heavy battery—across the river, without warning, and opened fire on the whole Servian line, decimating one regiment.
