HOCKEY.
The fixtures of the Wairarapa Hockey Association tvere continued yesterday, the surprise of the day being the excellent stand made by Excelsior against the redoubtable Carterton team. . The game was fast, and resulted in a draw. . The results were as follow: % EXCELSIOR 2; CARTERTON 2. Carterton scored both goals early, in the game when they easily held their own, but towards the end of the spell Excelsior were easily gaining the advantage, and had Carterton defending continuously. Throughout the second half Excelsior had the best of play and were unfortunate not to have scored on numerous occasions. The game ended with the score two goals "all. Messrs Fisher and Gray refereed. - P. & T. 2; FEATHERSTON 1. This game was very interesting throughout, both sides showing good form. The yellows were noticeable for very faulty .shooting, and. but. for this should have increased their scores. The second spell was very willing, each side doing its share of attacking. The final scores were: P. and T. 2] Featherston 1. Mr -Rue refereed. JUNIOR. St. Matthew's deated Carterton at Carterton by two goals to one. Perry and James scored for St. Matthews.
