THE BANKRUPTCY ACT.

The Wellington t> f 'tf )Ul _ merce is doino; i(lV ihecammerci^t in asking that the OMlkruptcy feiws should be reviewed. At present they are in a most luisati'sfactory condition. The question of private assignment* should, in particular, be given attention. It appears that some years back, at the request of Sir Joseph Ward, .the Associated Oha>ml>ers of Commerce drafted an amendment of the Act, and this was sent on to the Government. For some inexplicable reason, it has not been seen or heard of since. 'The present Government is very closely concerned in the conmercial as well as the rural' progress of the Dominion, and it. will doubtless give the matter «l-tho Bankruptcy 1 Act its early attention. The Chambers of other districts would d'> well to back up the representations made by Wellington on the subject.
