ADVANCE MASTERTON.
MR ELLIOTT'S NEW BUSINESS PREMISES.. ; Mr .las. Elliott, of Masterton, who recently purchased the valuable building site in Queen Street, next the Empire Hotel, is losing no time in putting the section to practical use. As goon as the sale negotiations were completed, inmediate instructions were given to Mr C. E. Daniell to design and erect a fine two-storey reinforced concrete building on the site, and yesterday saw the commencement of the foundation work. The dimension of the ground floor are 100 x 39 feet, and the top floor 48 x 39 feet. The building is to be constructed on the most modern lines, and. all the floors are to be of reinforced concrete, A new feature will be the eli--nination of verandah posts in favour of roof supports from the top, known as cantilevers.- The ground floor will consist of two shops, one for Mr Elliott's' own saddlery business, and the other for a tenant. The whole of the top floor will be used for Mr Elliott's work-room, access to which will be gained by a concrete staircase. The building is for immediate erection, and given favourable weather conditions,,-'the appearance of Queen Street will shortly be improved <by the erection of an up-to-date and welldesigned structure.
