Sir Samuel Gillott, formerly Lord Mayor of Melbourne, fell down a staircase while walking im. his sleep at Sheffield, and succumbed to the injuries he sustained. "[The late Sir Samuel Gillott was senior member of the firm of Gillott, Bates and Moir, solicitors. He was seventy-live years of age, and was born in Yorkshire. He was for some years, representative of Melbourne East- 1 in the Victorian Parliament, and was, for a time, Chief Secretary of State in Victoria. He was Lord M nvor of Melbourne from 1901 to 1904.
