SUPERANNUATION SCHEME.
LOCAL BODY EMPLOYEES.
(By Telegraph. —Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday
The Mayor-, Mr H. Holland, stated bo-day that tho matter of a, superannuation scheme for tho employees of local bodies came up at the meeting of the Executive Ckrjimittee of tho Municipal Conference. It was felt that any scheme to be a success must be a national scheme, otherwise there would be great difficulty in dealing with the case of an employee transferring from the service of ane local body to that of another. With a national scheme, however, contributions would go on just the same, no matter what local body an employee might join- A proposal was brought before the Minister, the Hon. J. Allen, who requested the Executive to appoint <a committee to discuss tho matter with him, with a -view of seeing whether it would not be possible to make a national 1 endowment scheme, available for the superannuation of'local bodies' employees. The committee was accordingly appointed to wait on the Minister. The Mayor added tliat the delegates present at the meeting all thought that if the national fund could be made available that would be the solution to the difficulty.
