PUSS IN BOOTS. I On Monday night at the Town Hall the J. C. Williamson management wall stage for the first and only-time ins Masterton the gorgeously mount-ij ed and wonderfully successful mime extravaganza "Puss in Boots," which is enjoying th? most successful tour yet experienced by a similar at- j traction in New Zealand. To-night a. full lighting and scenic reh&srsal will take nlaee under the supervision Of Mr J. "C. Whitfield, tho stage manager, which guards,... against the possibility of any hitch .occurring during Mondiiy~night's representation. Fairies, ogres,, .gipsies, policemen, rustics,' acrobats, ragtime experts, cats aitid all kinds of other wonderful being® will strut their hour in the pantomime. Miss Violet Loraine, who fills the part of Colin, is bracketed with the best who has ever essayed th? "nrincipal boy", role in London. "Puss in Boots" enjoyed a run of over six months in Sydney and Melbourne. Numerous alterations have been made to the existing ajpparaxus of the Town Hall, including the hanging of ovor 50 additional sets of blocks and linos and the erection of extensive electric fittings for the numerous effects. The hunting scene introduces Fred Leslie and Ivy Schilling in their graceful exposition of acrobatic acting. "Puss in Boots simply abounds in beautiful ballets. brilliant marches, and the musical items are a feature of the production; whilst the artistic and amazing" acrobatic feats of th • Gaudsmidts and th3ir remarkably clever dogs, and the wonderful feats performed by Messrs Collins and Hart, the famous burlesque acrobats, would alone, it i§ said, ensue the success of any pantomime. Children wilf find in "Puss in Boots" everything to delight them, particularly the antics of the remarkable horse (Messrs Hart and Whitmore), and the screamingly funny scenes provided bV Messrs "Pip". Powell (King Grabbus), George Miller (Dame Shortly), Fred Leslie (MuggleA and Rupert Darrell (Cyrus P. Hanks). Miss Alice Russon, Miss Dorothy Firmin, and Mr Vernon Davidson add considerably to the entertainment, as they are all gifted with excellent voices. The. plans are at the Dresden.
