THE TRUST CHAIRMANSHIP.

MR W. H. JACKSON APPOINTED

The chairmanship of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust led to some dis-. cussion at the meeting of the Trustees held last evening. Mr D. Caselberg, in moving that Mr W. H. Jackson be elected chairman, said it was an-understood thing that the chairmanship "should go round.

; Mr A. W. Hogg seconded the -notion, and said the position occupied by Mr Jackson at the election poll entitled him to be elected to* the chairmanship.

Mr C. E. Daniell said that while concurring in Mr Jackson's eminent qualifications for the position, he did --not'think .they should be continually changing their chairman. Mr Daniel) then moved that Mr R. Krahagen be re-elected to the position. Mr Krahagen s aid he did not wish to stand in the way of anyone aspiring to the position, but if it were the will of the meeting that he should retain the position, he would be prepared to do so. Mr Jackson said he would second Mr Krahagen's nomination with plea; sure.

Mr McEwen said he considered it a wrong principal to continually change their chairman, but at the same time he would support Mr Jackson's nomination.

Mr Pragnell said Mr Krahagen had filled the position of chairman very satisfactorily, but he thought the chairmanship should go round, and he would support the appointment of Mr Jackson. A division was then taken, Messrs Krahagen, Caselberg, Pragnell, MeEwen and Hogg voting for Mr Caselbergte motion, which was svrried, and Mr Jackson was duly elected chairman for the ensuing year, Mr Daniel congratulated Mr Jackson on his election, and on the position occupied by him at the poll. The ©lection had been mad© -nost interesting, and Mr Jackson's honour integrity had been attacked. It was the duty of tlie other Trustees to stand by him, and they had done so. '

Mr Jackson, in thanking the Trustees for .the honour conferred oh him, said his election as chairnfaln formed a climax to the strtiesfe recently gone through, and which, a.« the popular vote sho-wted, he had com? out',of with credit.
