The Hospital Committee to-day discussed a recommendation to increase the chargo to patients from 30k .to 85s weekly, bringing it into line with the Dunedin and Auckland charges. The proposal met with a good deal of opposition, the opinion being. expressed that patients should be classified, and the minimum oharge fixed at 80s. ft was urged that Tiany people we re unable to pay even 30s, while other B could afford to pay more, and shouldde so. The recommendation was refeiTed hack to the House Committee.
