AFTER MANY MONTHS

HUSBAND AND WIFE TO BE ftE-UMTED.

After being separated by many" leagues of ocean for eighteen months a woman living in England and her husband at present in New Zealand are on the eve of coming together, again. The story has a tinge of pathos in it. ' Last year the husband, leaving his wife and little child in England, took ship for Australia. From there he drifted to New" Zealand, and obtained work with a firm in one. of the loading towns of the North Island. Meanwhile hi s wife waited and watched anxiously for some tidings of him, but none arrived. With the passing of tb e weeks came the pinch of hunger, which drove her to sell up her little home and send the child to her parents, who could ill-afford the expense of his upbringing. By taking in needlework she managed to keep herself in food and clothing, but her existence wa* a miserable en©. In desperation she caused inquiries to be set afoot for her husband, and after many weeks of weary waiting she learned through the Salvation Army's missing friends bureau the address of the firm by whom her husband was employed. She wrote to the head *f tlhe firm inquiring if the information was correct. The husband admitted that he had neglected to write to her and inform her of his whereabouts. He expressed contrition, and Ins employers have decided to kee-p hra in their employment until he has earned enough money to carry him back to England. Meanwhile his wife ha« been communicated with, and fund s are being sent to her until her husband returns. —Post.
