At a meeting of the Druid's Lodge on Mondav evening, the election or officers resulted: A.D., Bro J. H. Barlow; V.A., Bro E. Smith; secre-| tarv,-Bro. E. McKenzie; treasurer, Bro. W. BaiHie; I.G, Bro. H Hutchinson; 0.G., Bro. P. A.B.« } Bros. N. Armstrong and H balisburv; V.B.'s, Bros. W. Earl and J. Saee; lodge trustee, Bro. J. M. Nicholls. Bro. H. Hart, district president, was the installing officer. Bro. P. Reid was presented with a past arch collar and diploma. On e new member was initiated, and three proposed for membership. A social was held afterwards, brethren being sented from Stonehedge Lodge, Masterton. It- is reported that Messrs James Macintosh and Co., the well-known stock and station have acquired the stock yards in Lincoln road, for manv years past known as Fairbrother's "saleyards. Mr Fairbrother will conduct his .final sale on Friday, after which date the aforementioned firm will take it over. Mr Fairbrother will continue business as| a general auctioneer. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Automobile Association, held here on Monday night, attention was drawn to a dangerous bend near the top of the Rimutaka road. It was mentioned that a stranger to the road could easily drive straight over an almost sheer bluff. It had not happened yet, but it miight occur at any time. It was necessary to build a white fence round the roadside so that the lights of a car would show the turning. Another member suggested that danger posts should be erected about 20 yards from the corner on both sides* of it, The matter is to receive the Association's attention.
The Belvedere School Committee has decided to ask, the Education Board df it could possibly place a porch over the back entrance to the teacher's residence, a very urgent and much required need.
