CANADA'S ATTITUDE
SPEECH BY M. BOURASSA
(Received Last Night, 10.15 o'clock.)
OTTAWA, June 11. M. Bourassa, speaking at Edmonton, said that if the Canadians supported Mr Borden's contention that Canada was bound to contribute to the British Navy because an emergency existed, Canada would be binding herself to contribute whenever an emergency, or a supposed (emergency, arose. This would be fatal to the builddng up of a definite National policy. If Canada agreed to representation on the Committee of Imperial Defence, such a delegate would be useful merely in talcing the British Government's commands back to Canada. He warned Canada that she was only bound to provide for her own defence, and such was Mr Joseph Chamb3rlain's idea, and he was one of the greatest Imperialists..
