GIRL BRUTALLY MURDERED
MAN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION
(Received Last Night, 8.20 o'clock.) BRISBANE, June 9. The body of a girl named Ivy Mitchell has been found hidden in the scrub at Samford, outraged, and with her throat cut from ear to ear. The girl, who was eleven years of ago, had been visiting friends two miles distant. '
She started for home early in the afternoon, and as she did not return at dark, her father and brother went in search, and discovered the body in some thick scrub.
A farm labourer named Ernest Austin has been arrested on suspicion of having perpetrated the outrage. 5 .
