MURRAY CREEK GOLD MINE.

Masterton shareholders in the Murray Creek Gold Mine will be interested in the following report from Mr F. H. Irwin, secretary to the company:— -Developments at the mine during the past week have placed 1 a different complexion upon' toiir f prospects. On Tuesday night the manager wired me that lie had knit a reef 2 feet in thickness at the north end of the Victoria l section in .No. 2 j level. On Wednesday night "he fur- * •ther advised me that the reef in the i face of the drive was 2 feet in width, no hanging wall, and that it was looking splendid and better than anything we had got in Rodden's reef. On Thursday, in reply to myjques-. tion, he mentioned that gold was visible in the stone, and the latest wire received last night reads: "Reef 5 feet wide in fact; no hanging wall; looks well." It 5s too early yet to take much for granted, but apparently the reef is a strong ore body, and it is highly likely it will live for some distance.

. As you know, we never got the Victoria Reef in this level solit-h of Rodden's, but we didn't look for the Victoria to be 6 feet in thickness, and it looks as though this new find, will more than compensate for the loss of the Victoria.' The reef is bearing away north in totally unexplored country. No doubt driving will be commenced later on in the level above in the same direction, to ascertain if the reef,.lives mp to this distance. I might say that there is a reel 1 running in the same 'direction in No. 1. level: that has been driven on for a short distance, and opens up from a mere track to 20 inches in width in the face, and at this point wor'k ceased. We ought to hear something any day now about the Inglewood in the new level, and the Phoenix in a few weeks later on.
