The first half did not produce much brilliant play, but the second improved. Mitchell as three-quarters; Jackson, replaced Manning at half-back; Hogan and Clark replaced Auld and R. Mitchell in.the forwards.
. For New South Wales, Messenger replaced-Deane on the three-quarter line; Deane replace Norman at fiveeighths. New South Wales had ,tl» assistance of tlie wind in the firiit spell, and had all the best of the game, handling the greasy ball with remarkable precision, considering the conditions.* - New South -Wales were attacking for the most of the spell, and crossed New Zealand's line four times, two of the tries being converted, whereas the blacks failed to score.
New Zealand, however, started the second spell with great dash, and crossed the line twice in quick succession, eacli try being converted.
