MAURICEVILLE WEST.
Messrs V. K. Lamberg and E. W. Noilsen have been appointed delegates to represent the, local Dairy Company at the Dairy Conference to be held ■in connection with the Palmerston 1 North Winter Show this month, and leave lure en route for I'almerston in a fjw days. A slight earth tremor was felt on Monday morning at 4.45 o'clock. A plain and fancy dress ball was held on Thursday night, but unfortunately the weather, as qii previous occasions, was unfavourable. Notwithstanding this fact, a very enjoyable evening was spent. Music was'supplied by Mrs Alex. Anderson ,of Dannevirke, and much appreciated. Mr J. Elliott acted as M.C.
The dairy factory runs for tlie last of the season. The season just closing has most successful, record prices have been paid and everytlung worked satisfactorily during the whole season.
Tlie farmers here are busy making repairs to buildings, trimming hedges, erecting new buildings and improving grounds generally in the recess while the herds are out for the wintor. V .
