Comment is made in cert tin new.s■papers of the. Dominion on the alleged fact -that. Mr Roderick , McKenzie, MP., foriaerjy. Minister of Public Works, has secured a, £SOOO contract •for erecting a Government bridge! . It is alleged shat; by taking such a contract Mr McKonzie has rendered Jiimself liable to certain penalties, if he continues to s it' and vote in the House. After all, the matter is mere allegation. Presumably the contract referred, to; is in the Akitio County. Mr McKenzie was, we believe, the successful tenderer for the erection of a bridge for the Akitio County Council Although the Government has subsidised the work, the undertaking is that of a local authority, and Mr McKenzie is quite within, his rights in making a, contract with a County Council. There is no indication of there" being a vaca'ncy for the lifotueka seat just yet.
