THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES.

The first of tile championships in connection with tlie North Island Sheep Dog Association—tlie Championship Long Head—in which thirtysix dogs competed, was concluded on Mr Walter Cameron's property fit Te Ore Ore yesterday. There was agauu a large attendance of the public, and the weather was fine. CLASS I.—Championship Long Head: About 800 yarfls; bring back a*d hold in ring. * Time, 12 minutes. First prize championship silver cup valued at £lO, presented by Mr John Strang, and £5, and also sweepstake of 50 per eent. of entry fees. A. Beaton's Smut ............ 1 7 g. Kennedy's Toss Junr. ... 2 W! H. Gaisford's Hemp ... 3 W. White's Boy • 4 *. A special prize of a pup valued at. £lO, donated for this event by Mr Jas. Lilico for dog gaining most points in style, was won by Mr Gaisford's ■ Hemp. JUDGE'S REMARKS. A Beaton's "Smut?'—Cast to the right; went out freely on good line; headed very well in; brought back •on good line and straight into ring; held very well; command and style very good. S. Kennedy's "Toss Jnnr."-Cast to rather slack in going out, but kept good line; did not go right round . his sheep whe* heading; brought back on good line and held well in ring, bufc'let out once; command.good, style P W." "-Startled to sigj&t;,went out freely course and headed well and carefully; pulled part way in good line, then got out of sight, and slightly off the course; afterwards pulled well to ring and straight into ring; held well, with very good style, but let his sheep out of ring twice; command S °W White's "■ Boy."—Oast to" the right; inclined to out into left; then got off course to the right; came back iand found his sheep; headedl fair; brought back <m go«d line, and hekl well in ring.
