A HASTINGS CASE.

(Uy lelegraph. —Press Association.) ■ HASTINGS, Last Night. John Ellis Smith, a middle-aged man, was committed for trial to-day on a charge of attempting to discharge a weapon loaded with destructive material at Francis Henry Bloxsome. Evidence for the prosecution alleged that Smith went to Biossome's house on May 25th and asked for £l, which he maintained was owing to him. On Bloxsome refusing, accused drew a revolver, which lie pointed at the prosecutor, saying: "If this won't do, this (producing a sheath knife) will." Bloxsome closed with' Smith, whom he held till the arrival of the police. The revolver was foiand to be loaded in four chambers. Accused reserved his defence. Bail was refused.
