NO-LICENSE VOTE.
A week or two ago the Hon. P. M. B. Fisher told an Auckland deputation, which asked for a reduction of the No-license vote, that there was no chance of licensing legislation in the coming session. The Premier yesterday told another deputation that a Bill w% at present under con- . sicleration. It is impossible to gather from these apparently conflicting statements what the" intentions of the Government really are. If the Government has ho intention of bringing down licensing legislation, Mr Ma-ssey should say so plainly, and that would be the end of the matter, so far as Cabinet is concerned. To say that the Government has a Bill under consideration i s to imply that there is a possibility of licensing legislation. For ourselves, we believe that Mr Fisher was right when he said that the Government had no intention of introducing a measure this session.
