CLEAKLXG SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having hold l a very successful clearing sale at the farm, Belvedere Road, Carterton, on account of Mr T. H. P. I>avey, of dairy stock, im- J plements, furniture and sundries. The cows, which were a particularly nice lot, met with keen competition, the herd, rhaking the good average of £8 Is per head, which must be considered a good price, especially as they were all August and September calvers. Sundries, etc., also sold well. The following* is a . list of prices:— Cows: Axigust culvers £7 to £l2, September calvers £6 to £ll 10s, 2year purebred Jersey bull (bred by Mr E. Eagle) £ls, yearling heifers 395. Account other vendors we sold: Heifer in calf £5 10a, cows in.calf £5 to £5 ss, trap horse £7, gig £l9 10s, 1 spring cart £9 15s, mower £lO, 130 bales pressed hay, 2s 4d to 3s per bale; 70 sacks oaten-sheaf chaff, 3s 7d to 3s 9d per sack (sacks in). Furniture and siundries also sold well.
HOME MAHKETS.. The Loan and Mercantile Agemcy Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 21st insfe: — Wheat. —We hare sold an Australian cargo at 37s 7H 0.1. F. _ The market ie qniet, but steady, owing to increased supplies, and is not likely to improve at present. We quote per quarter 0.1. F. New Zealand wheat, longberried 365, shortberried 36s 6d. Oats.—We quote Gartona 23s 3d, Bparrowbills 235. The demand is restricted. , Tallow.—We quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton 36s 9d pe? ewt., good per owt. The market is firm. Sheepskins.—We do not look for lower prices. '
