■ A Loudon cabl«. records the death P «f Lord Ashbourne, who had a seizure while walking in Hyde Park. Mr and Mrs Edward Naylor, who are old settlers of the Pabiatua district, celebrated their golden wedding yesterday. The death f occurred at Masterton /yesterday of Mrs Green at the advanced ago of 73 years. The deceased resided at Auckland befors -coming to - Mastertoa. Tie interment will be prirate. The Minister of Public Works (Hon W. Fraser), accompanied by Mr MabwL> (Chairman oi the Wellington Chamber of Commerce), Dr Newman, MiP.; Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., members of the Masterton. Chamber of ; Commerce, and pressmen, will leave Masterton for Blairlogie at 10 o'clock r this morning. The party will.return in time to enable' the Minister to afternoon, train for. WelH^ungton. Mr J. H. Escott, M.P. for Pahiatua, accompanied the Ministerial party on its visit to Masterton - last evening.
Mr (Reynolds Dennistpn, general manager of the Little Theatre in Sydney, who visited Masterton some months ago, had a marrow escape while motoring last week. His car skidded and threw him out with some violence on the road. Fortunately his only injury was a fractivp. of the elbow. Mr S. Cumming, postmaster at Rotoroa, has been'appointed to sue-, 4 seed Mr S. Inder as postmaster at Masterton. Mr. Cummings will arrive as soon as he can be relieved of his present position.. An old Maori, Hori Hokaho, a notable chief of the Ngatiwa. tribe, died at Waitara on Monday, aged 78. Hori was a good friend of the 'pake-has, and took an active part on their behalf in the Maori wars, for some tim« acting as guide for the late Colonel Good and othrr officers. News was received in Wellington, on Wednesday morning of death in England of Mrs Grace, widow of the late Dr Morgan S. Grace, of Wellington . The deceased for some, years was, according to latest advices, suffering a relapse from an attack of influenza. She was the daughter of the late Hon. John Johnson, M.L.C., And a sister of the Hon O. H. Johnston, M.L.0., and was 72 years of
