AN AIR-FLEET.
Has it occurred to the' Minister of Defence and the heads of his. Bepartnvinit that what is most urgently required 'by New Zealand at the present time is an air-fleet? When the Hon James Allen returns from liis visit, to the Old Country, he will probatfly tell us that, as a result of his. investigations, he has discovered that the most pressing necessity in connection with Empire defence is an efficient air-fleet. All the indications point to the fact that the wars of the futare between the Great Bowers will be decided by dirigibles and air-ships, from these will be. projected death-dealing bombs that wilt destroy battleships and decimate armies. If New Zealand -possessed an air-fleetNpf its'own,, it would be almost unnecessary to construct; further battleships, for all the destruction required could be wrought from the air.' The -feverish haste - ,witb which Germany and v France a.r? constructing aerial machines of wair should be an object-lesson to the Commonwealth and New Zealand. \.
