BIG FIRE IN HUNGARY.
LOSS OF LIFE; THOUSANDS HOMELESS. (Received Mav 19, 8.15 a.m.,V •VD2NNA, May 38. A fire at Pressburg, Hungary, rendered 8000 persons homeless. A fireman and a child ,m the fire, and many persons were injured. .
A HUNDRED BUILDINGS DESTROYED. JEWS PANIC STRICKEN. THREE HUNDRED INJURED. (Received This Morning, 12.30 o'clock.) VIENNA, May 19. One h/uaidred buildings, including several of historical value, were- destroyed! at Pressburg, and involved a great part) of the old Jewishquarter. The panic stricken. Jews refused to break the Sabbath to extinguish the fire until the Rabbi granted them dispensation. ' , Three hundred were injured.
