IN THE PHILIPPINES.
MANY VESSELS WRECKED
FIFTY-EIGHT LIVES LOST
(Received Last Night 11.30 o'clock.) NEW Y ORK, May 12. Advices from Manilla report a heavy typlioon in the l'liilippines. Many steamers and lighter craft were wivcked. Much damage is expected, but there are no details. Fifty-eight persons were killed at sea. The typhoon is the most serious for eight years.
