Messrs R. Brown and Walter Nops have been appointed auditors for the Wairarapa Caledonian. Society. Mr H. A. Matthews, of Featherston, was on Saturday elected a life member of the Master ton A, and P. Association. It is reported that Mr J. A. MoEwen intends becoming a candidate for the extraordinary vacancy on the Masterton Trust Lands Trust. The friends of Mr J. W. Card; solicitor, of Featherstort-, will learn with regret of the death of his wife, which occurred on .Saturday last, at the age of forty-one years.' Mr T. Oafneron, of Glendlin tion, Lower Valley, tlied in a private hospital in Wellington on Friday last, at the age of forty-eight years. The deceased, who had been suffering for some tini 3 , leaves a 'wife and family, who will have widespread sympathy in their bereavement.
(Mrs Smith, wife of Mr David Smith, of Lincoln Road. Masterton, died fn tho Masterton Hospital on Saturday evening. The deceased was 52 years of ape, and had suffered for a number of years from a painful disease. The funeral will leave 105. Lincoln Road on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. for the Greytowti ce-netery. One of the oldest identities of Masterton in the person of Mrs James Wrigley, relict of tlio late Mr James Wriglev, died on Saturday mourning at her residence, 67, Pine street, Ma,sterton. The deceased was horn in Grimsby. 'England, and. was 66 years of age. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr Christopher Bennington, who arrived m New Zealand as far back as 1855. He was one of the first settlers to take tip land :'m> conjunction with Wairarapa Small Farms Associations. The late Mrs Wrigley has resided in Masterton for the past 53 y?als.. Mr James Wrigley, her husband, pre-deceased her 9 years ago. Three sons and three daughters are left to moxirn tiheir lose, and also one brother, Mr G. O. Bennington, Masterton, and two sisters, Mrs 10. W. Trustoott, of Masterton, and Mrs J. J. Chapman, Tongaporutu, 'iaranaki. The sons are Messrs John, Charles, and William Wrigley, of Bidefott'd, and uhe daughters Mrs C. H. Payne, Mrs Jas. Candy, and Mrs T. U. Wellington, Masterton. The late Mrs vVngley also/leaves 19 grand-children.
