BELLE CROME COMPANY.

AT THE TOWN HALL

The Bel] Crome Company of Entertainers played to a good house in the Mascerton Town Hall last evening, and those who paid for admission must have come away entirely pleased with the performance. The programme contains splendid items of bright and sparkling entertainment, and it. may safely be said that not a dull moment was experienced from the rise to tlie fall of tlie curtain. A feature .of tlie performance was the varied character of the many clever items, while tlie audience would also greatly appreciate the entire absence of delays between the appearance aJid disappearance of rthe different artists. The programme opened with a splendidlyrendered vocal overture by the company, which was received with prolonged applause, while the Musical Cronies were responsible for a charming xylophone duet. Mr Norman Churton, who possesses a fine voice, gave "The Mighty Deep," and "The Sentinel am I," to the great appreciation of all. The hand-bell items were the features of the performance, the Bellringers clearly indicating that they have lost none of their artistic touch. Their renderings of a select number of beautiful items were received with continued applause, and several encores were responded to. Miss Ethel Richards has a beautiful' balanced soprano voice, and soon established herself a prune favourite. "The Promise of Life, 1 ' "Poor Wandering One," and other numbers have rarely been heard to better effect. One can' readily imagine Miss Richards becoming very popular in tin; Dominion. Miss Belle Crome was heard to great advantage in a character song, in which she fairly captivated her audience, while her wonderful versatility was demonstrated by rare renderings on the mandolin violin and hand-bells. Mr Beit Ralph is an English comedian who knows his business as well as his audience, and he was responsible for creating much ■merriment. The final act by the Oeighton brothers i s one of tlie cleanest, crispest and cleverest performances yet seen in Masterton. The juggling and acrobatic feats of the pair are quite away from the hackneyed lines which we are so used to, some of their work being clever in the extreme, while the acts of the smaller of the pair gives an air of comedy to the act, which renders it all the more 'charming. We have little hesitation in -recommending the Crome Company to all in search of an evening's real entertainment. To-night | an entirely new programme will be submitted, and if last evening's performance is equalled, two hours of keen enjoyment are assured.
