Mr J. Lees, of Woodville, has beerc appointed -manager of 'the Martinborough branch of Messrs Dalgety and Go. Mr T. H. -Kei.ny, who lias resided in PaHatua during the oast five months, left for Auckland yesterday. Mr and Mrs W: H. Yolo and family left Babiatua yesterday for their new heme at Waeranga, Waikato. The School Committee. of the Masterton High School, at last night's meeting, passed a vote of appreciation to Mr G. B. Sykes, MP., for the valuable assistance rendered in connection with the recent school excursion to Wellington. ; A vote of appreciation of the services rendered by Mr D. Thread well, while a member of the Masterton School Committee, was passed at last night's meeting of tke new comm. - tee, Mr C. E. Daniell, cl Masterton, has been added to the Wharves and Aocounts Committee of the Wellington Harbour Board. Mr E. H. Hiley, the new General Manager of Railways, is expected to arrive in New Zealand on September Ist.
Miss Bunting, assistant teacher at Masterton side school, has been granted leave of absence till the end of the present year. Mr F. Wise, of EkeUJixTna, has been, appointed -secretary to the Bush Districts Chee»?« Factories 1 Association. Mr S. Priest is the President. Mr Edwin Johnson, of Masterton, with bis daughter, Miss Ethel Johnson, who a s quite recovered from her illness,' will leave' Sydney to-morrow on the return to New Zealand. Messrs A. E. .(Booth (Gladstone) and D. K. Loga/iu (Masterton) represented the Wairarapa Rugby Union at the annual conference of the N.Z. Rugby Union at Wellington yesterday. The Bush districts were represented by 'Mr F. D. Pelting, of Eketahuna. Messrs Logan and Felling were elected Vice-Presidents «>" the Union, At the monthly meeting of the Masterton District High School Co~nniittee was evening, it wa* decided to place on record the committee's appreciation of the excellent and faithful work done by Miss E. Williams, in the secondary department. Miss Williams, who has been connected with the school for seven years, has received an appointment in the Lower Hutt District High School, and takes up her duties there on June Ist. .
