A London cable states that Mr Ramsay McDonald, leader 6f the Labour Party in the House of Commons, has returned from India. Mr H. C. L. Robinson yesterday tendered his resignation as a member of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust. The. reason for Ins resignation has not yet transpired. During Mr E. L. Holmwood's absence in England, the managementof the Masterton branoh of Messrs J. Macintosh and Co. will be conducted by Mr A. C. O'Connor, one of the~ partners in the firm. Mr C. Blackburn, one tune of Masterton, is at present acting-manager of the Gi&borne branch of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd, The Hastings Tribune says: "Mrs and Miss Walden, Boundary road, Hastings, have gone to Masterton to Job Mr Walden, and intend remaining there for the next four months." Mr E. L. Holmwood, Mrs Holmarid Miss Holmwood, of Masterton, Svill leave Wellington on Thursday .next by .the s.s. Rangitira on a ; sixmonths' visit to the Old Country.

Mawley at Ditton station for the last twenty years, died somewhat suddenly yesterday morning. Deceased, who was a native of Ceotlancl, was 55 years of age. He was a first cousin to Sir (Dr) Lees, of St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh. Mr and Mrs G. H. Collie and the Misses Collie, of Pahiatua, who have been in England for two years, returned last week. Mir W. H. Yule, who has disposed of his farm at Scarborough, and is about to settle in the Waikato, was given a hearty send-off by the people of Pahiatua on Saturday last.
