CHESS.
THE MASTERTON CLUB. The Masterton Chess and Draughts Club held its annual general meeting in the Y.M.C.A. rooms, Masterton, last evening, there being a large attendance of members and intending members. The report and balance-sheet having been received, the election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr James Brown; President, Mr J. T. T)a.gg; Vice-Presidents, Messrs W. Moore and W. P. Welch ; committee, Messrs C. Winchester, F. Youle, G. A. Jones, and J. Sedcole; hon. secretary, Mr K. Welch; hon. treasurer, Mr t' J. Thompson: hon. auditor, Mr W. Hood; Match Committee. Messrs G. Jones, C. Winchester and W. Moore. A' number of new members were elected to the club. It was decided to try and arrange for two matches to be played against Wellington Clubs on May 23rd aivd 24th.
