THE BACON FACTORY.
AT THE WAINGAWA WORKS. A large number of shareholders of the Wellington Farmers' Bacon Company attended the meeting at the Olympic Theatre in x'ahiatua on Saturday afternoon to discuss matters relative to the pig industry, and to ■deal with the business which was (not concluded at the meeting of shareholders of April 18th. Mr A. McFarlano, ; one of the directors of the Company, presided, and stated that the Committee of five shareholders appointed at the recent meeting had visited Masterton to review the financial position of the Company. Mr T. Moss said the Committee, which consisted of Messrs A. Barrell, M. Alpass, A. Eddie, A. Pryde, and the speaker, had inspected the books of the Company. Their view of the situation when in Masterton was not very satisfactory, but information had since been furnished which placed a different light on the subject. The Committee considered that the position disclosed was so satisfactory that its recommendation to the meeting was not to take any action with reference to closing down the factory until after the annual meeting, which would be hdd in about two months' time. The great question was that of loyalty. Although the Company was in its second year of working, the average number of pigs sent to the works by each shareholder was only five for the present season. MiMoss then moved, and Mr Prdye- seconded, "That further action be defxxrrcd until the balance-sheet of the Company is issued at the annual meeting." A good deal of discussion took plae. 1 and the resolution .was eventually carried unanimously.
