CARTERTON NEWS.
Our Own Correspondent. During the month of April 8 births, 2 deaths and 1 marriage were registered in Carterton. ' The Carterton Brass Band acknowledge with thanks the receipt of a donation of £1 Is from Mr W. Redmond.* The, annual meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society was held at Carterton on Saturday last, when there was a good attendance of members. Mr E. Eagle, jun., presided, and the report and balance-sheet was read and adopted. A very hearty vote ofsympathy with Mr G. W. Poller in his illness was carried unaniinouslv. The election of officers resulted : President, Mr E. Eagle, jun.; Vice-Presidents, Messrs W. Henry Booth and A. Clark; treasurer, Mr G. W. Delia*; auditor, Mr J. Moncrieff; general committee, Messrs W. W Bicknell, T. V. Caver ill, C Campbell, J. W. Card, C. R. Gundy, A. C. Feast. J. C, Harp, J. Monogba.n, H. Morrison, C, Morgan, ;T. G. McDonald J. G. Gates, C. L. Reynold.-,, AY H. 'Rolweson, A. G. Tver, F. .1. White (Greytown), and G. E. Yule. It was unanimously resolved that a remit be sent to' the Agricultural Conference that the Agricultural Department be approached relative to the provision of sufficient insulated trucks for the conveyance of cheese and butter by rail.' It was decided that the first 'meeting of the new committee be held on May 16. Votes of thanks were accorded the officers.
