MARINES ARRESTED. ALLEGED ATTEMPT TO RELEASE PRISONERS. (Received .May 2, 11.10 a.m.) LISBON, May 1. Ten marines on board the cruiser Sao Gabriel liave been arrested for plotting to liberate military prisoners aboard the cruiser Republica. Ouo hundred marines in th© military barracks have been arrested in connection with an attmejated revolt.
POLITICAL PRISONERS. (Received May 2, 11.10 a.m.) LISBON, May 1. In the House of Commons, Mr F. D. Aeland, Undersecretary to the Foreign Office, in reply to a question, said the Foreign Office had not communicated with Portugal in connection, with the accusations of ill-treatment of political prisoners recently made by the Dowager Duchess of Bedford.
