M. Popov itch, Montenegrin Plenipotentiary in London, lias made overtures for a friendly settlement. Montenegro's reply to the Powers' denies the intention to defy them and trusts that the Scutari question will be discussed between the Allies and Powers as part of the whole question <\ the, Albanian frontier. Montenegro > yesterday offered to -urrender Scutari for territorial compensation, but Austria will nrot agree co any compensation at Albania's' expense. The Powers hope that a few days' patience will facilitate a peaceable settlement.
