Deller, of Carterton, to Mr Lionel J. Carmine, late of Carterton, but now of Gieborne. , Mr A. Johnson, who has been chief <-lerk at the Carterton railway station for some time, and has been promoted to Greytown, left Carterton on Thursday to take up his new duties. His successor ait Carterton is Mr L. S. JDownes. The death is announced of Mr James Dalgleish, one of the oldest amd most respected settlers in the .. ■ "county of Akaroa. He was horn in 1834, at- Strathavon, Lanarkshire, ./Scot In 1861 he married and 'came ooit to Nerw Zealand. .After ■ ' staying in Wellington for about a year, he went Banks Peninsula, < - arid resided at Duvauchelle. The coming of age of Miss Freda Redman, daughter of Mr and Mrs F. ft T. Redman, of Worksop Road, Masterton, was celebrated 1 by a birthday gathering in the Exchange Hall last evening. Notwithstanding the wretched weather, there was a large gathering of friend®, amd a most enjoyable evening was spent. Miss Redman wis the recipient of numerous valuable' presents and many hearty congratulations. A quiet wedding was solemnised on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church. Carterton, when the Rev. Father Bowe united Maud, youngest daughter of Mrs Hickson, Parkvale, to George, eldest ison of Mr Miles Hood, Asliburton. The bride, who was given away by Mr A. Williams, waft attired in white Chinese silk, trimmed with silk lace and insertion. She ■also wore the usual veil and orange ty'*«soms, and carried a white praver hook. She was attended by Miss Hood (sister of the bridegroom),"who j , wp<! dressed nn a. silver grey costume, "truth grey felt hat to match, with large white ostrich spray, a.lso carrying a wihie prayer book.
