THE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

We congratulate Mr J. M. Coradine upon having been re-elected to the Chief Magistracy of Masterton. During the last two years he and his Council have had comparatively little new work thrown, /upon them. In the coming year, however, several important municipal undertakings have to be faced, and for this reason it is necessary that the Council should be strengthened. Sixteen candidates are offering themselves for the nine seats ad> the table, and the burgesses are fortunate that in this sixteen are to be found quite a number of young men of more than average ability. The platform that is published in our issue of to-day by Messrs .Donald, Kemball, King, Lamb, Sellar and Winzenberg, shows that these vigorous young business men have a close acquaintance with the various matters affecting the civic welfare of the community. They have expressed their views in a, clear and concise manner, and are deserving of respect for having thus early taken the electors into their confidence. No doubt other candidates will place their views before the public before the day of election arrives, and; the burgesses should than' have no difficulty in selecting a team that will render useful service to the borough.
