EVIDENCE FOR DEFENCE CLOSED. (Received Last Night, 9 o'clock.) LONDON, April 23. Evidence for the defence has been closed in the action for libel brought by Lord Alfred Douglas against Dr Arthur Ransome and The Times Book Club in connection with Dr Ransome's book on Oscar Wilde, alleging that Lord Douglas was responsible for Wilde's public disgrace and abandonment to poverty. 'The Times Book Club's manager testified that he examined the volume and found nothing objectionable. He was prepared to withdraw the (Statements complained of by Lord Douglas.
