VICTORIAN DRINK BILL.
A CONSIDERABLE INCRESAE. (Received Last Night, 9.10 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, April 22. According to figures supplied by Mr John Vale, Victoria's drinking bill for 1912 totalled £5,151,21.3, or £3 16s Id per head of the population, wihifeh n's 2s 6d per head higher than in 1911, and the highest since 1901. He atrihutes the increase to the general prosperity ami the long hours that publicans are allowed to keep their premises open, compared with the hours of other trades.
