DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
HOTEL AND STORE DESTROYED. {By Telearapk. — Press Association.) WESTPORT, Last Night. A fire at Cape .Foulwind, between 5 and 6 o'clock this morning, destroyed the hotel owned by Mr Costell'o, and occupied by Mrs Monigattie, and the tea room, store and billiard room, owned and occupied by Mrs Harnety. Both were practically new 'buildings', being erected only three or four years ago. It was with difficulty that the intension of the tiro i\w | reveuteJ. A hall adjoining HartneyV, store caught, but the fire was extinguished before much damage was done, and Miss Oilman's store, which is also the Post Office, adjoining the hotel, also had a narrow escape. The fire appears to have begun in Harnety's. As a pile of coal is scill alight in a dangerous proximity to the hall, the Westport Fire Brigade went out by train this afternoon, taking » quantity of water with them owing to the local supply having run out. They have now got the fire completely under control. .The-billiard tables in Harnety's and the hotel were both lost. The .insurances have not yet been ascertained. .
