TOWN HAUL PICTURES. "WJUTTEN OX SAND." The Mastorton Picture and Entor- ' tainment Company ba.s every reason | to bo isatisficd with the treatment it is receiving from the public. Last evening the Town Hall wa s crowded to witness the splendid programme, of which tho powerful drama, ''Written in Sand" wa-s the star. The whole of the pictures were of the ■highest order, and wore of such a varied character a s to appeal to all. Tho comics and seenics were particularly attractive. This programme will bo shown for a last time to-night. Tho usual matinee will he held tomorrow afternoon, and on Saturday evoning the heautifully-eoloureil Pathe production. "The Creed for Gold," will 1)0 shown for a first time. This picture stands out among the reveiations in cinematography, ft is described by the city pros s us "ji l perfect gom." The star will be supported 'by a magnitieent programme of dramas, comedies »m\ seenics, and tho Symphony Orchestra will provide appropriate music in its host style. Picture patrons should not forget that to-night will he their last opportunity of witnessing "Written in Sand" and "The lload of Yesterday." THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. "THE CRUSADERS." Another large audience witnesseu tho current change at the T.-P. Electric Theatre, last evening, when "The Crusaders" again proved a very popular feature. This subject has been the theme of niany thrilling pictures, and has furnished plots innumerable for dramatist and novelist; but it may be safely said that never in any form has it been 'so eloquently represented a s in this Chios great pictorial production, which eclipses in magnificence anything that has come under notice. Every scene in this picture is of excellent photography, and includes several hundred people in the acting. The dressings -are in perfect harmony with the period, and form an interesting feature to a picture which pa-trons-should not fail to see. A drama from the Scottish heather was shown from the Selig studio in "The Laird's Daughter," which contained an admirable plot. Another fine dramatic conception was Kalem's "The Mayor'** Crusade," which gave a most interesting story. "Sea Anemones" provided a very beautiful scenic, and was a masterpiece of colour art. Pathe Gazette supplied the latest topics the hour, while "The Manufacture of Combs" was also an interesting feature. The comedy section included "His Picture," and "A Button Off j Hi s Trousers." This series will bo repeated to-night. On Saturday there will be a grand matinee at 2.30 o'clock, whilst a big feature is advertised' for tho week-end change in "Zika," a brilliant gipsy story,"' 3000 feet fn length.
