DISTRICT NEWS.
Our Own Correspondent. MAUIUCKYILLE WEST. A cold rain from the south commenced to fall at sun-set on Saturday evening, accompanied by a brilliant display of lightning, and continued throughout yesterday and last night. No doubt a. serious decrease in the milk supply at the various factories must be the result. The season is not far enough advanced, and feed is too plentiful for stock to suffer to any great extent. Mis. s Thompson returned last week from a most enjoyable trip to Auckland. At a meeting of directors of the local Dairy Company, held last week, it was decided to accept the offer of a Wellington firm of Is 1-Sd for the remainder of the season's output. This must be looked upon as most satisfactory. ■' About half the scholars from the school, and a large number of grownups, have decided to visit Wellington during Dreadnought week.
