WAIRARAPA PRESBYTERY.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Presbytery was held at Masterton on Tuesday afternoon. There were present: Revs. G. K. Stowell, Moderator (chairman), E. C. Tennent, L. Thompson, M. B. Harris, and A. T. Thompson, with Messrs E. Feist, H. T. Wood and G. Bruce, elders. The Rev. Davis, of the Victorian Pfesbytery, who is acting as supply for the Rev. S. J. Young, was welcomed and associated with ' the Presbytery. Elder commissions in favour of Messrs E. Feist and M. McGregor were sustained. The Lansdowne congregation having decided to huild a manse, the consent of the Presbytery was asked for pel-mission to borrow £6OO towards its erection, of which the Presbytery wa s asked to support an application for the loan of £2OO from the country fund. This was agreed to. The sympathy of the Presbytery was extended to the Rev. J; S. Young, with the hope that he may soon be restored to health. . The finding of the commission regarding Pongaroa was submitted and approved. The baptismal certificate sent down from the General Assembly for consideration, met with the Presbytery's approval. The Revs. E. C .Tennent, J. S. Young and L. Thompson were appointed an evangelistic committee. Arrangements were made to welcome Dr Kirk, of Canton, on Mav 30th. It was decided to consider at a future meeting the matter of supporting a missionary in the foreign field. A remit from the Assembly on beneficiary funds was considered and approved. It was resolved that a grant be asked from the augmentation fund on behalf of Pahiatua for thi s year. The Presbytery resolved to further the work of the Bible-in-Schools League.
