CANTEENS IN CAMP.
A parent, in a letter published in our issue this morning, takes exception, to the provision of a canteen at the Territorial Camp, to be held at Onngi this month. We have made inquiries, and find that the canteen will be under strict supervision, and there will be n 0 possibility of the young Territorials indulging to excess. It is thought that a canteen is necessary as an emergonev in case of sicknes s or fatigue. Jn his orders, C)llel ,T at( \ hils explicitly stated. "No officer," non-commissioned officer, or man is to bring alcoholic liquor into camp under any circumstances whatever. Anybody found in possession of liquor is to be immediately placed under arrest." The officers in the camp may, Ave think, be depended upon to see that the' canteer is not abused.
