MASTERTON COUNTY
FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Finance Committee of the Masterton County Council yesterday was presided over by Cr. Beetham. The treasurer reported as follows: General fund account, cr., £906 lis C>d. local bodies loan account, cr., £162 4s 2d; accounts, cr. balance .£1637 12s 6d. The receipts since the last meeting amounted to £6998 10s lid. It was decided that application be made to Mr Robert Buick to pay half the cost of clearing out the Paerau road drains. Thq offer made by Mr J. Bon stead to metal about 12J chains of tlio Moron road was accepted. It was decided that the committee considers the proposal made by the Waimate County Council with regard to reducing the period during which the rates may be paid without penalty should be discussed by the N.Z. Counties' Association, and suggests that steps) be taken to bring it before the next conference. Tn regard to the da mag? to the road at Mr C. Benton's through metal carting, it was decided to ask Mr Benton to furnish the Council with an account of the cost of repairing the road on his property. Tt was decided that the question of modifying the proposals for the expenditure of thirds available for Hutewai road in accordance with the letter of the 21st ijH.. .. addressed by Mr J. H. Jewitt to Cr. Cross, be referred to Cr. Cross and the County Engineer to deal with.
