NAVY PROPOSALS.
THE GIBRALTAR SCHEME.
COLONIALS INTERVIEWED. (Received Last Night, 9.15 o'clock.) LONDON, March 38. Sir Gcorgo Reid, High Commissioner of tlie Common-wealth, interviewed in regard to the proposal contained in. Mr Winston Churchill's speech in reference to Gibraltar, said ho did not consider a squadron based at Gibraltar would be sufficient to guard the .Empire. The Hon. James Allen, New Zealand Minister of Defence, said he considered the scheme unsatisfactory to New Zealand, and probably to Australia. Sir Joseph Ward said, he considered thei scheme an excellent one, pending the possibility of a strong Pacific Squadron.
