AN UGLY REPORT.
We have !-"en told that there is a section of the community in Mas+w ton that hn,s expressed its "itpnt.iV™ of voting for Snturdav ae- IV,. b;ilfholiday to spite certain tradesmen who are sitppcsprl t" have in brkgijug a.bonfc iNo-lieen.se. It is said that by taking thjj. .step ihey hope
to hasten the restoration of licenses. Wo can hardly give credence to the report, because, if it is true, it is a disgrace to the community. There is obviously no connection between local No-license and the holiday question. 3f the closing of the hotels ha s proved a costly experiment, as many hold it to have clone, why try another experiment which would prove even 'more costly? Why, also, make the tradesmen who voted for continuance, suffer for those who voted Nolioon'so? The whole suggestion is abhorrent to fair-minded people.
